The MuayThai Workshop was established in late 1997, with objectives to improve overall fitness, learn practical realistic self defence techniques and cultivate martial arts enthusiasts as MuayThai ring athletes.

MuayThai (Thai kickboxing) is the devastating “science of 8 limbs” from Thailand developed over 1000’s of years. The exact date of the creation of this fighting art is not known but it is widely believed to be over 2000 years old. It is one of the most powerful styles of martial arts because Thai boxers apply maximum power in every technique, which is generated by the turning of the hips followed by body. Bone-strength, endurance, and stamina must be achieved in order to become a proficient Thai boxer.

Soldiers have trained and used the techniques for as long as there has been an army in Thailand. For the military it has always been the close combat fighting skill, the martial art of the battlefield. To cater for the ever increasing demands of a working class adult to maintain a healthy lifestyle, many private and community clubs overseas are now offer these arts as part of their menu for clients. Research has shown that strength training can improve endurance, develops fitness, musculoskeletal strength and endurance, which help prevent injuries to adults and children.

The MuayThai Workshop has uniquely devised a structured and comprehensive training plan (complete with full grading system) for those who wish to:
- Waste no time and clock quality fitness time (an hour or so per training) in keeping trim and fiteffectively, without pursuing active combat practices.
- Pursue the sport actively or professionally as ring athletes.
